The NHS Knowledge and Library Hub (the Hub) is a simple way to quickly search a wide range of evidence sources. It is designed to save time finding journal articles, ebooks and evidence summaries. Search results have buttons to either download an article there and then, or to request a copy from your Knowledge and Library Service. A free NHS OpenAthens account is used to get full access. The Hub can be used from any web browser, and on your phone.
The Hub will shortly be given a new look – more modern and less cluttered. It will also have a new powerful option: natural language search. This will allow you to type in your question and have it interpreted into an effective search query, with highly relevant results.
But what lies underneath the Hub won’t change – it will continue to search across high quality evidence resources selected for NHS users. This means you don’t get results from dubious web sources or from AI hallucinations.
You will be able to access the Hub in the same way. Existing bookmarks and embedded search boxes won’t change. If you have saved records and searches in the current Hub, these can be transferred across (but you may need to follow some simple instructions to do this).
The Knowledge and Library Hub will move to the new interface week beginning 7th of July 2025.
Here is a sneak preview of how your new Hub will look!:

The new interface gives you quick and easy access to search functionality, high quality resources, as well as key local links. We will have some new training materials and videos for you soon!
If you have any questions, or need support in how to transfer across any saved records or searches, then please contact the Library team - library@somersetft.nhs.uk.
