BMJ Best Practice is an evidence-based generalist point of care tool, structured around the patient consultation. It contains advice on symptom evaluation, test ordering and treatment approach. It is also UK focused and it is supported by Health Education England. Content includes clinical expertise from over 1,600 international authors and 2,500 peer reviewers, as well as essential COVID-19 resources to support healthcare professionals with diagnosis and management of COVID-19, latest news, comment, and research from BMJ. All available resources are updated daily.

BMJ Comorbidities Manager

Health Education England has extended its subscription to include Comorbidities Manager. BMJ Best Practice is the point of care tool able to treat the whole patient by taking account of a patient's acute (urgent) condition alongside their existing (chronic) comorbidities.

How to access it

  • click on Log In on the top right corner,
  • click on 'Access through your institution'
  • choose 'Somerset Foundation Trust'

 UpToDate is a leading point of care tool. Updated on a daily basis, it provides information on more than 10,000 topics in 26 specialities. It has access to more than 460 journal titles, as well as over 10,000 guidelines, and there is a comprehensive drug database.
